Legal tender
[edit]paragraph two "they are technically not legal tender " paragraph three "but remain legal tender."
possibly better as "continue to be accepted" — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.197.190.6 (talk) 21:43, 18 May 2017 (UTC)
Coinage is the only legal tender in Scotland.
[edit]I don’t think this is highlighted at all in this article and indeed the section that reads “The fact that the notes are not defined as legal tender means that they are not withdrawn from circulation in the same way as the Bank of England notes, which cease to be legal tender on a given date” suggests otherwise. History?
[edit]This practice has been around since the eighteenth century. I know that in the 1960's there were more than these three banks issuing notes. Anyone got a list? Linlithgow (talk) 16:00, 18 December 2023 (UTC)
